If you want to advance your career in Australia’s ever-expanding retail industry, this traineeship will prepare you to move from trainee to positions such as senior retail assistant or supervisor.

You must have a training contract with an employer and have previously registered with a New Apprenticeship Centre.

You will learn advanced skills required in such positions, such as how to operate retail information technology systems, how to produce financial reports and how to maintain and order stock. You will also learn leadership skills enabling you to coordinate work teams, implement staff training and maintain employee relations.

You will learn to recommend which products to sell, including liquor, toys, books, newsagency products, clothing, footwear, jewellery, furniture, electrical and computer products. The course will also prepare you if your interest is in more specialised roles such as advanced selling and/or merchandising.

What employment opportunities will I have?

The retail industry is one of Australia’s largest and is constantly expanding. On completion of the course, you will be eligible for employment in the field of retail operations, in positions such as senior retail assistant or supervisor.
