What does this course involve?

This course provides you with realistic practical training in software development (programming) and computer applications programming.

Your training will focus on programming for Oracle databases, Microsoft Visual Studio and Sun Java, and you’ll use technology such as VB.NET and Java GUI applications.

You’ll learn how to gather information to identify business requirements, translate business needs into technical requirements and build software using rapid application development.

If you successfully complete the second year, you’ll receive these qualifications:

  • Diploma of IT (Software Development)
  • Diploma of IT (Database Design and Development)
  • Diploma of IT (Website Development)

Industry standard vendor qualifications in SUN and Oracle are also available as part of this course.

Entrance requirements

  • Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass.
  • Relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.

English Language Proficiency

  • A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

Special admission requirements

Satisfactory completion of Certificate IV in Information Technology (General) is required before undertaking the second year of the Diploma of Information Technology.

Cost

$AUD9,500 per year, plus amenities and materials fees.

You must have successfully completed (or be about to complete) the Certificate IV in Information Technology (General). You will then be required to undertake a further year of full-time study to complete the Diploma of IT units of competency listed below.
