What does this course involve?
This course provides you with realistic practical training in database administration, as well as database, software development and computer applications programming.
The course will develop your programming skills for Oracle databases, Microsoft Visual Studio and Sun Java.
You will also gain essential communication skills, learn about quality and project management, and translate business needs into technical requirements.
If you successfully complete the second year, you will receive these qualifications:
- Diploma of Information Technology (Database Design and Development)
- Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development)
- Diploma of Information Technology (Website Development)
Industry standard vendor qualifications in SUN and Oracle are also available as part of this course.
This course is also available to international students.

- To apply for a full time position in this course you must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If the Institute still has vacancies after the VTAC places have been offered, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.

Length of course
Full time - 2 years
Part time available, selected units are available for evening study, other units may be studied during the day. Duration of the course for a part time enrolment will depend on the number of units a student enrols in simultaneously each semester.
