What does this course involve?
This course provides you with practical training covering all the basic aspects necessary for a career in Information Technology, such as introducing you to programming, operating systems, networks, computer hardware and web page design.
Industry standard vendor qualifications in Microsoft (MCP) and Cisco are also available as part of this course.
Entrance requirements
Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass. Relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.
English Language Proficiency
A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.
Special admission requirements
Study of Maths/Science to Year 12 (or equivalent) level is recommended.

Aus $9,500 per year

What employment opportunities will I have?
Depending on your choice of electives, this course may provide you with junior ICT support roles in:

What further study options will I have?
You may wish to progress into the Diploma of Information Technology with a choice of up to three of the following streams:
- networking
- systems Administration
- database Design
- web development
- software Development
You may wish to then continue into the Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Networking), the Associate Degree in Software Development and then the related bachelor degree at Deakin University.

Course Structure
The Certificate IV in Information Technology is completed over one year full-time. The content for this program is detailed in the Units of Competency section below.
Graduates then have the choice of progressing to Diplomas specialising in Software, Website Development, Systems Administration, Networking or Database Development.
Successful completion of a Diploma will help the student to progress towards an Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Networking) or an Associate Degree in Software Development.
