This course will give you the skills to work in supervisory positions in the hospitality and tourism industry.
You’ll develop an understanding of the hospitality industry, gain bar and waiting skills, and learn how to provide superior customer service.
You can choose to specialise in either basic commercial cookery or event management.
This course also gives you the opportunity to gain paid work at major events like the Australian Grand Prix or Spring Racing Carnival.
Join in the success of previous Box Hill Institute students, and enter prestigious industry competitions such as the Student Waiter of the Year Awards, World Championship Cocktail Bartending and World Skills (Restaurant Service category).
This course is also available to international students.
What employment opportunities will I have?
You are encouraged to seek part-time work in the industry while you study. Most students are successful in finding work, such as a bartender or waiter, early in the course.

What further study options will I have?
You may wish to progress onto the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.
You may also choose to complete your program in one of Box Hill Institute's partner schools in the USA or Canada.

- You must have successfully completed Year 12 (VCE), or equivalent
- If you are mature age or have not completed Year 12 you can apply directly to the Institute
How do I apply?
- To apply for a full time position in this course you must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If the Institute still has vacancies after the VTAC places have been offered, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.
