What does this course involve?

This course will give you the essential skills to administer remedial, sports and therapeutic massages.

You’ll learn how to analyse health information, maintain an effective work environment, and manage a massage practice.

You’ll also learn to plan and provide remedial massage treatments to clients with chronic diseases, clients within a corporate environment and to athletes.

Graduates will be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Massage Therapists and other professional massage associations. You will also be able to obtain a WorkCover provider number after completing this course.

In the first 12 months, you will study the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy which is a pre-requisite for the Diploma of Remedial Massage.


What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may provide you with employment opportunities as a self-employed remedial, sports and therapeutic masseuse.

You may also find employment opportunities in a group practice with other health professionals, in health clubs, hospitals, resorts, sporting clubs or day spas.

What further study options will I have?

After successful completion of this course, you may wish to further your studies at another institute in either Myotherapy or Therapeutic Kinesiology.

Can I apply?

  • You must have a current Working with Children Check
  • You must have a current National Police Record Check
  • You must have basic computer skills
  • You must demonstrate skills in literacy by completing a VETASSESS literacy and numeracy test at a cost of around $45. If you have already been tested within the last 12 months attach a copy of your results to your application form.

The next round of testing will take place at our Elgar Campus E3.318 on:

    • Monday, November 10th - 6.30-8.30pm

Length of course

Full time - 2 years (includes 1 year of the Certificate IV in Massage)

You can exit after the first year with the Certificate IV in Massage or continue for a further year to obtain the Diploma of Remedial Massage.

Will my previous experience or study count?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work.
