What does this course involve?

If you’re currently working in the disability or community services sector and want the skills to perform at a management level, this course is designed for you.

You will learn how to co-ordinate assessment and quality service delivery to clients with complex needs, supervise staff or volunteers and implement work programs.

You will be equipped with skills in managing workplace issues, establishing and managing new programs and services, and mentoring colleagues.

Learn how to manage finances, accounts and resources, and ensure a safe work place for your clients and co-workers.

You also have the opportunity to gain a dual qualification when completing this course. Some of Advanced Diploma of Disability Work units can be credited to the Diploma of Business (Frontline Management).

What further study options will I have?

You may wish to progress into the Diploma of Business (Frontline Management). You may also wish to progress into related studies at a degree level.

Can I apply?

  • You must be mature aged
  • You must be currently employed in the disability sector and have a minimum of twelve months experience
  • You must be able to access management-type roles to complete assessment tasks
  • You need experience working in a role which enables you to exercise of independent judgement and decision-making, and a range of technical and other skills
  • You must have a current Working with Children Check
  • You must have a current National Police Record Check
  • You must have basic computer skills

Length of course

The length of this course varies depending on your situation
Part time - 1 year (2 evenings per week Monday and Wednesday 6-9pm)
Part time - 2 years (1 evening per week Monday or Wednesday 6-9pm)

Will my previous experience or study count?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.
