What does this course involve?

This course will give you the essential skills and knowledge to work as a Division 2 Registered Nurse in a variety of health care settings.

You’ll learn how to implement basic nursing care, assess clients’ health and analyse health-related information.

Learn how to administer and monitor medications, and care for older clients, acute care clients and people with mental health conditions.

You’ll develop effective communication skills and learn how to work within legal and ethical parameters in nursing.

This course is also available to international students.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course may provide you with Division 2 Registered Nurse employment opportunities in a range of health settings such as:

  • acute care
  • chronic care
  • aged care
  • rehabilitation
  • mental health

Division 2 nurses work under the direction of a Division 1 nurse and in collaboration with Division 1 and 3 registered nurses to support the health and wellbeing of people.

What further study options will I have?

Successful completion of this course enables you to articulate into the Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Bachelor of Nursing.

Can I apply?

  • You must have successfully completed year 12 (VCE), or equivalent or be mature age
  • You must have basic computer skills
  • You must have a current National Police Record Check
  • You must demonstrate skills in literacy and numeracy by completing a VETASSESS literacy and numeracy test at a cost of around $45. If you have already been tested within the last 12 months attach a copy of your results to your application form. The next round of testing will take place at our Elgar Campus E3.320/321 on Wednesday, 24 September, 6 - 8.30pm, Wednesday, 1 October, 6 - 8.30pm and Thursday 27 November, 6 - 8:30pm.     Length of course

    Full time - 1 year (4 days per week)
    Part time - 2 years (2 days per week)
    This study includes 8 weeks of clinical placement (5 days per week)
