What does this course involve?
If you provide technical support working under a pharmacist’s supervision in a hospital or pharmacy setting, this self-paced online course is ideal for you. This course is also designed for those who supervise pharmacy assistants.
Learn how to conduct small-scale compounding of general and aseptic pharmaceuticals, prepare batch, work sheets and labels and assist in dispensing administration.
You’ll also learn how to support pharmacists by collecting and providing the right information.
Develop your knowledge of advanced medical terms, learn how to implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements, and comply with infection control policies and procedures.
Please note: This course not designed for retail pharmacy workers.

Can I apply?
- You must have a minimum of 2 years working in a Hospital or Community Pharmacy industry/sector
- You must have basic computer skills
- Successful completion of the Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy support is preferred
- You must have successfully completed or hold qualifications equivalent to the following:
- HLTHIR301A Communicate and work effectively in health
- HLTPH3001B Undertake pharmacy technician duties
- HLTPH312A Procure, store and maintain pharmaceutical products
- HLTPH313A Distribute pharmaceutical products in a health setting
- HLTPH314A Assist with basic dispensing of prescriptions
- HLTPH306B Package pharmaceutical products
For traineeship applicants:
- You must have previously registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre
- You must have a training contract with an employer
