What does this course involve?
This course is designed for those wanting to assist health professionals and care for clients (under supervision). It has been structured with electives for specific operating theatre support work as well as recommended electives for nursing assistance work in acute care.
You will learn how to use basic medical terms, comply with infection control policies and procedures in the health industry and contribute to effective working relationships.
Learn how to maintain a high standard of client service, apply first aid and support client care.
This course also includes a unit titled ‘Follow basic food safety practices’ as it has become a requirement of most health and community services organisations.

Length of course
Full time - 9 weeks
- 6 weeks in the classroom (3 days a week)
- 3 weeks work placement (5 days 7am – 3pm)
