What does this course involve?

This course is delivered with the Certificate III in Aged Care Work to give you a dual qualification on successful completion.

The course will give you the essential skills and knowledge to care for people in a home setting.

You will learn how to work effectively in a home and community care environment, gain valuable communication skills and facilitate cooperative behaviour in clients and colleagues.

This course may provide you with employment opportunities in:

  • local government
  • community organisations
  • home and community care (HACC) services
  • aged care facilities

What further study options will I have?

You may wish to progress into aged care or health-related courses such as the Certificate IV in Health (Nursing), the Certificate IV in Disability Work or the Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Liesure.

Can I apply?

  • You must have a current National Police Record Check
  • You must possess a mature disposition and have a genuine interest in the care of older people
  • You will be required to sit a basic literacy and numeracy test at the compulsory information session

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.

    CHCHC302B Provide personal care in a home and community care environment 50 hr
    CHCOHS302A Participate in safety procedures for direct care work 30 hr

    All Electives must be completed for the dual qualification
