What does this course involve?
If you want to work as a dental assistant, dental hygienist or dental therapist, this course gives you the knowledge and skills needed for all health care procedures, to help maintain high standards of infection control and to assist with practice administration.
You will learn various skills including how to assist with dental radiography, processing reusable instruments and equipment in health work, applying first aid, and complying with infection control policies and procedures in health work.

After successful completion of this course you may be able to apply for positions such as Dental Assistant.

You may wish to progress into health-related courses such as the Certificate IV in Dental Assisting.
Can I apply?
- You must have a current National Police Record Check
- You must possess a mature disposition and have a genuine interest in the care of older people
- You must demonstrate skills in literacy and numeracy by completing a VETASSESS literacy and numeracy test at a cost of around $45. To find out how to book a test, visit the Vetassess website
For traineeship applicants:
- You must have previously registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre
- You must have a training contract with an employer
