What does this course involve?

This course provides you with the essential skills and knowledge to work in variety of early childhood settings and out-of-school hours programs. This course will also enable you to work as a Level III childcare worker.

Learn how to care and interact effectively with children, provide food and respond to illnesses and accidents. You’ll learn how to foster and support the emotional well being of infants and oversee their physical, social and psychological development.

You’ll also learn how to provide administration support in a child-care facility, and provide a safe and healthy working environment.

What further study options will I have?

You may be eligible to progress into the Diploma of Children’s Services.

Can I apply?

  • You must be 18 years or over (or mature age)
  • You must have a current National Police Record Check
  • You must have a current Working with Children Check
  • You must demonstrate skills in literacy (NRS level 4) and numeracy (NRS level 3) by completing a VETASSESS literacy and numeracy test at a cost of around $45. If you have already been tested within the last 12 months attach a copy of your results to your application form. The next round of testing will take place at our Elgar Campus E3.320/321 on Thursday, 6 and 26 November, 6 - 8.30pm. To book a date for your test, go to www.vetassesstest.com.au

For traineeship applicants:

  • You must have previously registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre
  • You must have a training contract with an employer
