What does this course involve?

This course is delivered with the Certificate III in Home and Community Care to give you a dual qualification on successful completion.

This practical course will teach you how to communicate with clients, and provide physical and sociological support to the elderly in low and high care aged care facilities.

You’ll study how to care for people with dementia, provide personal care for clients, and work with culturally diverse clients and co-workers.

Learn how to comply with information requirements in aged and community care sectors, work effectively in a home environment and apply advanced first aid.

What further study options will I have?

You may wish to progress into aged care or health-related courses such as the Certificate IV in Health (Nursing) or Disability Work.

Can I apply?

  • You must have a current National Police Record Check
  • You must possess a mature disposition and have a genuine interest in the care of older people
  • You must demonstrate skills in literacy and numeracy by completing a VETASSESS literacy and numeracy test at a cost of around $45. If you have already been tested within the last 12 months attach a copy of your results to your application form. The next round of testing will take place at our Elgar Campus E3.318 on Tuesday, 28 October, 6 - 8.30pm. To book a date for your test, go to www.vetassesstest.com.au

For traineeship applicants:

  • You must have previously registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre
  • You must have a training contract with an employer
