If you’re working in the broad biotechnology sector, this course will give you the necessary skills to manage and operate effectively within your workplace.
Because this course is flexible, you can choose to undertake these four modules in any sequence:
- Australian biotechnology industry overview
- Bioscience research and discovery
- Biotechnology product and process development
- Biotechnology management principles
The course is delivered via an interactive web-based interface.

Will my previous experience or study count?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.

VBQM050 – Australian biotechnology industry overview - (60 hours)
The Australian Biotechnology industry and its relationship to the global biotechnology industry.
VBQM051 – Bioscience research and discovery - (100 hours)
This module provides the underpinning knowledge of the physical, life sciences that have contributed to biotechnology discovery.
VBQM052 – Biotechnology product and process development - (120 hours)
The development, regulation, commercialisation and critiquing of biotechnology products.
VBQM053 – Biotechnology management principles - (120 hours)
This module provides an overview of the financial, business and management principles involved in commercialisation.
