What does this course involve?
Floristry is a true artform. And it's a career where you can be both creative and business-minded . This course gives you a solid, practical grounding in the skills you need.
You'll learn basic skills essential in any workplace, such as communication, housekeeping and workplace safety. You'll learn industry-specific creative skills such as how to prepare and display floristry stock and how to arrange foliage and flowers in boxes, posies, baskets or bowls.
You'll also cover the retail side - how to provide service to customers, operate retail equipment and perform stock control.
This is literally a hands-on course. For first-hand industry knowledge, you will complete work experience. You'll also have the opportunity to prepare arrangements for various functions hosted by Box Hill Institute and participate in various awards, such as the Apprentice of the Year, where floristry students have a great reputation.

What further study options will I have?
Successfully complete this course, and you'll be able to further develop your skills by progressing to the Certificate III or IV in Floristry.
Can I apply?
- You must be 16 years or over and possess an aptitude for floristry, or have arranged to undertake a traineeship in floristry.
- You must have previously registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre
- You must have a training contract with an employer
