What does this course involve?

If you’re an artistic person, and want to explore various opportunities in design, this course will give you an understanding of the graphic, communication, multimedia (or interior) and fashion design areas.
You’ll learn how to create design concepts, and select the right techniques and media to communicate your ideas.

You’ll gain skills in researching and applying techniques for graphic design, as well as develop your knowledge of colour application, typography and digital production.

You’ll complement these practical skills with study in design history, drawing, and Occupational Health and Safety.

This course is also available to international students.

Although you gain skills necessary to pursue a career in the design field, the purpose of this course is to prepare you for further study.

What further study options will I have?

You may wish to progress into the Diploma of Arts (Graphic Arts), university design degrees or interactive multimedia courses. You may wish to specialise in graphic art, graphic design, multimedia or interior design.

Can I apply?

  • You must have successfully completed year 12 or be mature age
  • Your folio should contain proof of basic abilities in drawing, design, planning and motivation
  • How do I apply?

    • To apply for a full time position in this course you must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If the Institute still has vacancies after the VTAC places have been offered, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.
