This computer systems engineering course is designed to give you advanced skills in managing computers and computer networks.
You will develop practical skills in computer maintenance, operating systems, network configuration and maintenance, interface design and internet working technologies.
You will learn how to develop complex testing and evaluation features and diagnose faults in advanced systems.
You will also learn how to provide technical leadership in the workplace and gain hands-on skills in:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies (INTRO), Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices (ICND), Wireless LAN for Field Engineers and Cisco Call Manager.
- CompTIA (A+, Linux+, and Net+).
- Microsoft (Certified Professional (MCP) and Systems Administrator (MCSA)).
This course is also available to international students.

What further study options will I have?
You may wish to progress into the Bachelor of Computer Systems (Networking) at Box Hill Institute and receive up to 18 months of credits.
Can I apply?
- You must have successfully completed Year 12 (VCE) of education, or equivalent
- For Year 11 or mature age students, please apply directly to the Institute for consideration. In some circumstances a bridging program may be required.
How do I apply?
- To apply for a full time position in this course you must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If the Institute still has vacancies after the VTAC places have been offered, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.

How will I be selected for this course?
If you apply through VTAC you are selected on your ENTER and/or Personal Information form (Pi form) and/or study scores.
If you apply directly to Box Hill Institute you may have to attend an interview and sit a test designed to assess your aptitude for the course.

This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.
