Human Resources staff are a vital part of any business. This course gives you a comprehensive set of generic and specific skills for work in various human resource roles.
You will learn how to manage performance termination procedures, computer skills and how to develop employment policies. You will gain valuable training in human resources operations, practice and management.
Special emphasis is given to making sure you understand the legislation associated with human resources, such as employee and industrial relations issues.
This course is also available to international students.
What employment opportunities will I have?
Almost all businesses require a human resources department to oversee staff hiring and termination, salaries and the general well-being of employees. Typical employers include large private enterprises, large government organisations and human resource recruitment consultancies.
At the Certificate IV level, you would work in administration roles within the human resources area. At the Diploma level you could take on the role of a human resources officer and work with little direct supervision.

- Performance management
- Training and development of employees.

What further study options will I have?
Graduates of this course may obtain credits for relevant courses at universities. Credits must be negotiated directly with the organisation concerned.

- Mature age entry is available if you do not meet the academic requirements
How do I apply?
- To apply for a full time position in this course you must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If the Institute still has vacancies after the VTAC places have been offered, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) takes into account the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained through your previous education and work. This may be through formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work experience, and can earn you credit if relevant to your chosen course.
