What does this course involve?

If you want to work in the field of sports and recreation, this course prepares you for a wide range of roles. These include sports event management, sports administration, sports coaching and officiating, sports training, strength and conditioning, personal training, and positions within councils and sport and recreation organisations.
You will gain the knowledge and skills to implement and oversee activities for businesses involved with sports and recreational activities, enhancing our leisure time and providing expert assistance to teams and individuals who participate in these activities.
This course is a dual qualification. If you complete the Diploma of Sport Development you will also receive the Diploma of (Athlete Support Services).
The course covers a wide range of areas, including client services, communication, occupational health and safety, finance, marketing, event management, sports first aid and training, coaching, instruction and officiating, strength and conditioning and frontline management.

What further study options will I have?
After completing this course, you will be eligible to apply for degree courses in a number of areas including sports management (commerce), sports coaching and administration (health sciences), human movement (health sciences) and will be able to receive some credit for studies already undertaken.

How do I apply?

To apply for a full time position in this course must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If after the VTAC places have been offered, the Institute still has vacancies, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.
