What does this course involve?

If you are a middle-level professional accountant, this course gives you practical career-orientated training.

As a graduate of this course you should be able to assist senior accountants and undertake duties in a wide range of manual and computer-based accounting functions, perform internal and external audit functions, tax planning and evaluate business performance. You will learn a range of skills including monitoring of corporate governance activities, preparing complex tax returns, spreadsheets and corporate financial reports.

The course also equips you with the communication and people skills necessary to present reports, be aware of the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees and to manage a team effectively.

Entrance requirements

Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass.
Relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.

English Language Proficiency

A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

$AUD9,800 per year, plus amenities and materials fees.

What employment opportunities will I have?

This course prepares you for middle-level management tasks in financial analysis, financial accounting officer, corporation law assistant or costing projects manager.

What further study options will I have?

You will be able to apply for other courses at a more advanced level at other institutions or universities and possibly receive credit for studies already undertaken.

Course Structure

Advanced Diploma of Accounting is the fourth and final stage of the pathway to the Advanced Diploma of Accounting. The content for this stage is detailed in the Units of Competency section below. For content of stages 1, 2 and 3 please refer to the information for Certificate III in Financial Services (Accounts Clerical), Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting) and Diploma of Accounting.


All fees shown are in Australian dollars and do not include living or accommodation expenses. All fees quoted are the 2009 calendar year indicative fees and are correct at the time of print. In subsequent calendar years, fees may be subject to a small increase in line with annual Institute fee pricing reviews. This qualification may have prerequisites, co-requisite or bridging units from lower or higher level qualifications. For further clarification please seek advice from the Institute.
