If you have relevant industry experience and wish to advance your career in public relations to roles such as media officer, event coordinator, community development officer or public affairs officer, this course covers the required skills and knowledge.
You will learn the techniques employed in media and marketing communications plans and campaigns, crisis and issues management, fundraising, government lobbying and leading others. You will cover such areas as strategic public relations writing, risk management strategy, securing financial resources, research and analysis applying government systems and ensuring team effectiveness.
There is a strong emphasis on the use of hands-on projects to develop the skills needed to work in the Public Relations industry.
Entrance requirements
Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass. Relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.
English Language Proficiency
A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

Course Structure
The Advanced Diploma of Business (Public Relations) is the final year of the two year program. The content for this year is detailed in the Units of Competency section below. For content of the first year please refer to the information for Certificate IV in Business (Public Relations)

The workplace component of this course is currently under review by the Victorian regulatory authority and there may be changes to its current form in 2008. All Victorian TAFE Institutes will be required to comply with any regulatory changes.
