What does this course involve?

If you want to pursue a career in government or private sectors involved in international business, this course prepares you for a variety of roles.
You will acquire the cross-cultural knowledge necessary for a career in buying and selling goods on the international market, whilst learning generic business skills. These will include implementation of strategic plans, reviewing and development of business plans, management of business operations, risk, innovation and continuous improvement, international marketing programs and planning an eBusiness supply chain. You will also learn how to apply these principles in an international context.
Recognising the importance of practical experience, special emphasis is given to work placements and projects during the course.
Entrance requirements
- Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass.
- Relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.
English Language Proficiency
- A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
- A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

What employment opportunities will I have?
You can expect to gain employment in a variety of organisations in both the government and private sectors involved in international business. Positions may include clerks or supervisors in:
- Import/export
- Freight forwarding
- Shipping
- Customs or marketing.

What further study options will I have?

Course Structure
The Advanced Diploma of Business Management is the fourth and final stage in the Advanced Diploma of Business Management pathway preceded by three earlier stages. The content for this stage is detailed in the Units of Competency section below. For content of stages 1 to 3 please refer to information for Certificate III in Business (International Trade), Certificate IV in Business (International Trade) and the Diploma of International Business.

The workplace component of this course is currently under review by the Victorian regulatory authority and there may be changes to its current form in 2008. All Victorian TAFE Institutes will be required to comply with any regulatory changes.
