What does this course involve?

If you want to pursue a career in government or private sectors involved in international business, this course prepares you for a variety of roles.
You will acquire the cross-cultural knowledge necessary for a career in buying and selling goods on the international market, whilst learning generic business skills. These will include implementation of strategic plans, reviewing and development of business plans, management of business operations, risk, innovation and continuous improvement, international marketing programs and planning an eBusiness supply chain. You will also learn how to apply these principles in an international context.
Recognising the importance of practical experience, special emphasis is given to work placements and projects during the course.
This course is also available to international students.
What employment opportunities will I have?
You can expect to gain employment in a variety of organisations in both the government and private sectors involved in international business. Positions may include clerks or supervisors in:
- Import/export
- Freight forwarding
- Shipping
- Customs or marketing.

You may be able to apply for similar courses at a more advanced level at other institutions and possibly receive credit for studies already undertaken.

To apply for a full time position in this course must use the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) process. Details of the VTAC application process are at www.vtac.edu.au and in the VTAC Guide, which is available from leading newsagents and libraries from August. If after the VTAC places have been offered, the Institute still has vacancies, you will be able to apply directly to the Institute.
