What does this course involve?
In this course you will learn generic business skills while acquiring the cross-cultural knowledge necessary for a career in buying and selling goods on the international market. Recognising the importance of practical experience, special emphasis is given to work placements and projects during the course.
You are not only taught the basics of business but will also be taught how to apply these principles in an international context.
This new course is being implemented nationally but at Box Hill Institute we have decided to follow a slightly different path. You will now be able to learn all of the necessary concepts of International Trade whilst also developing important management skills through the completion of an Advanced Diploma of Business Management (International Business).
Entrance requirements
Australian Year 12 or equivalent with a pass. Relevant senior employment experience in industry will be considered.
English Language Proficiency
A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic).
A minimum TOEFL score of 530 for paper examination; 179 for computer based and 71 for Internet based.

Cost
Aus $9,500 per year
plus amenities and materials fees.
What employment opportunities will I have?
You can expect to gain employment in a variety of organisations in both the government and private sectors involved in international business. Positions may include clerks or supervisors in:
- Import/export
- Freight forwarding
- Shipping
- Customs or marketing.

Course Structure
Diploma of International Business is the third stage of the pathway to the Advanced Diploma of Business Management. The content for this stage is detailed in the Units of Competency section below. For content of stages 1 and 2 please refer to information for Certificate III in Business (International Trade) and Certificate IV in Business (International Trade).

The workplace component of this course is currently under review by the Victorian regulatory authority and there may be changes to its current form in 2008. All Victorian TAFE Institutes will be required to comply with any regulatory changes.
