Areas of ResponsibilityJohn has been Box Hill Institute’s Chief Executive Officer since early December 1999. He was formerly director of Gordon Institute of TAFE from January 1996 until December 1999. He is responsible for educational leadership within the Institute. This includes strategic positioning and promotion of the Institute within government, industry and the community as well as strategic planning and development. He is also accountable for the Institute’s business growth, management and financial performance and is the Managing Director of Box Hill Enterprises. Professional BackgroundJohn has wide experience in vocational education and training (VET) across areas of responsibility such as a strategic and business planning; business development; marketing and public relations; information services; international education; VET program delivery; development of flexible delivery modes; entrepreneurial and commercial activities; VET research; quality and customer service initiatives; and financial management. His previous roles include: - Gordon Institute Chief Executive Officer from January 1996 to December 1999
- Box Hill Institute of TAFE Deputy Director from January 1990 to December 1995
- Various management roles over a period of 10 years at Chisholm Institute of TAFE
- Glenroy Technical School secondary teacher for four years
- Employment at Arthur Andersen & Co. (one of the big six accounting firms), working in their small business management and business consultancy areas.
