Area of Responsibility

As Deputy CEO one of Darrell’s responsibilities is to deputise for the CEO in his absence.  Darrell’s primary responsibility is in education delivery management, particularly in meeting contractual and service obligations with government.  This includes ensuring delivery in line with Institute and Government priorities, quality assurance and budgetary parameters.

Darrell is also responsible for the Strategic and Management Planning across the Institute and for the coordination of the various Institute Training Plans in key strategic areas including manufacturing, design, biotechnology, small to medium enterprises and hospitality and tourism.

Another key element of Darrell’s role is providing the Institute’s Council with appropriate management information to enable it to perform its corporate governance role.

Darrell is also responsible for coordinating marketing activities across the Institute.

Professional Background

Darrell joined the Institute from the Office of Training and Tertiary Education where he was General Manager, Vocational Education and Training.  Before this appointment, Darrell spent many years in the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance.  In this role, he was responsible for various activities including budget planning and monitoring for the Victorian Public Sector, policy development and a number of cross-government roles.
