Habit

Don’t burn your lips blowing the flame
I’ll keep my skin raw as if you were here
if it would alter the course
if we could think differently about the stretch of days
not list toward our habit
the usual places, usual folds.

peel back an eyelid

Following straight lines this is the least resistance
to do this each day—
and we wondered if it would be different
caressing without diverging.
Could I razor your way out of boredom ?
Reinvent myself a passionate life ?

run shower soap limbs
pause
steam shower white noise
