Information and Communications Technology

Who we are

Box Hill Institute’s Centre for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) offers a wide range of courses for those wishing to pursue a career in the information technology industry.

We are the Super Cisco Academy Training Centre (SuperCATC), one of the only four in the world, responsible for quality of service and technical support for Cisco training in the Asia Pacific area.

What we do

As the ‘Victorian Specialist Centre for ICT’ Box Hill Institute is proud to offer the best training in ICT, ranging from certificates and diplomas to bachelor degrees.

We offer students practical experience, allowing use of all the latest equipment, while gaining a sound theoretical background.

In addition to traditional training, Box Hill Institute conducts industry-accredited training which is internationally recognised.

ICT professionals

We teach in specialist areas such as computer systems, networking, electronics, information management and all aspects of information technology including:

  • Programming
  • Databases
  • Operating systems
  • Networking
  • Computer hardware and software.

We are associated with Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Agilent, Apple, Oracle, Sun and the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).

Library technician

In modern life everyone needs to access and manipulate digital information. Searching the web is an access point but you need more structure. This comes from libraries, which are increasingly offering digital access based on their traditional strength of books and other resources. We train library technicians, the specialists who catalogue and retrieve — vital steps that turn data into information that you can then absorb and turn into knowledge.

Skilled staff

Our staff are qualified workplace assessors; if you already have an ICT-related qualification and you want to upgrade it through recognition of relevant workplace experience, we can help you.

Staff are in tune with the latest innovations and technological developments. Many of them have spent time teaching, researching and training overseas (Asia, Canada, India and USA), establishing relationships with training institutes. This creates interesting opportunities for study and employment for students.

Our facilities

The Centre for ICT is located in a modern building at Nelson Campus, with well-equipped networking labs and electronic workshops.

We offer program delivery though a number of different modes including:

  • on campus (full-time or part-time)
  • at the workplace
  • distance learning (flexible – at home or by correspondence).
