Who we are

Box Hill Institute’s Centre for ELICOS aims to equip students from non-English speaking backgrounds with the English skills required to further develop and utilise their skills and qualifications.

What we do

The Centre for ELICOS delivers a range of English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to both migrant and international students.

Our areas of expertise include:

• English assessments
• ESL programs
• Provision of concurrent study support
• ELICOS (Intensive English Language Courses for Overseas Students).

Migrant students can enrol in one semester full-time English courses. These courses are offered at different levels and their purpose is to prepare students to enter post-secondary education (TAFE or university) or to access the Australian workforce.

International full-fee paying students can enrol in intensive English language classes that are offered at six levels, ranging from elementary to advanced. There are nine intakes each year. The aim of these classes is to prepare students to enter mainstream courses at Box Hill Institute in a variety of areas including business, art and design, hospitality and tourism.

Our facilities are up to date and include computer rooms and a language laboratory.
