Computer Software The modules have been tested with Windows 95, which is the preferred operating system. In order to complete this online module, you will need to purchase or download copies (where available) of the following software tools from the linked WWW sites. From the site you should explore to find a browser that suites your needs.
Textbook purchase The text book for this module is VBB222 Digital and Computer Systems. This book can be purchased from the Library Resource Centre, Box Hill Institute, Nelson Campus, Cnr Nelson and Whitehorse roads, box Hill at a cost of $9.61 (including GST). Telephone 9286 9805.(Price current at August 29, 2000) Computer Skills This course does not require sophisticated computer skills, however you should be able to use a web browser, either Netscape or Internet Explorer. If you are not familiar with 'surfing the net', Netscape has a tutorial which would be of assistance to you. It explains the basics of the internet and using a web browser. It is assessed via Help on the Netscape screen. Click on Help, which appears at the top of the screen, then click on Help contents, and finally click on 'Browsing the Web'. Interner Explorer has a similar tutorial. It is also accessed via Help on the Explorer screen. Click on Help, which appears at the top of the screen, then click on Contents and index, and finally click on 'Getting started with the Web browser'. It is broken into parts. Click on the name of each section to read the contents.' |
